Fellowship Opportunities at the National Institute of Justice

Subject: Fellowship Opportunities at the National Institute of Justice

The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is looking for doctoral students with innovative research that aims to solve problems faced by criminal justice practitioners. Apply to be part of one of NIJ’s Graduate Research Fellowship (GRF) programs. The deadline is December 15.

For doctoral students in social and behavioral sciences (SBS), NIJ awards up to $32,000 in stipend and research support.

For doctoral students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), students can receive stipends of $35,000 as well as up to $15,000 annually to cover tuition and research expenses. Up to three years of support are possible, with demonstration of continued enrollment and satisfactory progress.

Additionally, NIJ’s W.E.B Du Bois Fellowship will be open early next year. The fellowship is for research that emphasizes crime, violence and the administration of justice in diverse cultural contexts. Learn more about that opportunity here.

ANNOUNCING:  Western New York Prosperity Fellowship Program | Open to all UG majors and select GRAD programs: 

Seeking students with an entrepreneurial drive who want to make a difference in Western New York| Application Deadline: February 5, 2016

 

All students will be awarded a paid summer internship; scholarship support will be awarded during the academic year will vary in size and may be up to $25,000 based on a student’s unmet financial need.  This fellowship program will assist undergraduate and graduate students who are actively preparing for careers that further economic development and growth, especially in the Western New York region. Open to all undergraduate majors and select graduate programs including students in the School of Management, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and School of Architecture and Planning.

 

Fellowship eligibility:  

  • current sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students are eligible to apply;
  • should have minimum 3.0 cumulative UG GPA / 3.5 cumulative GRAD GPA;
  • have an interest in bolstering the WNY economy through job creation;
  • eligible to receive federal financial aid and complete the 2016-2017 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the advised deadline.
