Wellstone Fellowship for Social Justice and the Villers Fellowship for Health Care Justice

Each year, one person is chosen for each of these fellowships to work in Families USA’s Washington, D.C. office for a year. Wellstone Fellowship candidates must demonstrate an interest in healthcare policy as a tool for reducing racial and ethnic health disparities and in using organizing and advocacy skills to achieve social change.

Applicants also should demonstrate a commitment to contributing to social justice advocacy following their year of hands-on experience as a fellow. Application Deadline: January 27th. The Villers Fellowship for Health Care Justice was created to inspire and develop the next generation of healthcare justice leaders. During his/her year-long tenure, the fellow will work on a variety of healthcare justice issues and develop an understanding of the federal legislation process. S/he also will be exposed to different advocacy strategies, including producing analytic reports, disseminating effective messages through the media, coalition building, and e-advocacy techniques. Application Deadline: January 10th.

Undergraduate Scholarship Program to Germany, Deadline January 31, 2012

We would like to remind you of our upcoming deadline for the Undergraduate Scholarship Program. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) invites highly qualified undergraduate students to apply for funding to study, do research and/or internships in Germany.  Scholarships are available for students taking part in an organized study abroad program/exchange or as part of an individual, student-designed study abroad experience.  Funding for a semester or the academic year is offered for 2012/13 (starting in fall 12) and includes a monthly stipend, health insurance and a lump sum for travel. Please note that students wanting to study in Germany in the spring of 2013 need to apply now.
